GENERALLY WHEN WE APPROACH NEW A SITUATION? AND YOU HAVE SAID THAT AN ECONOMIC SITUATION LIKE THIS BRINGS OUT MORE PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED USUALLY IN SSME OTHER OPTION. >> ABSOLUTELY. THEYRE TIRED OF THE 50HOUR WORK WEEKS AND TIRED KNOWING FIVE YEARS FROM NOW THATIF ANYTHING GOES RIGHT IN THEIR FINANCIAL LIFE, IN THEIR WORK LIFE THAT NOTHING CHANGES. A LOT OF PEOPLE IN OUR COMPANY THINGS GO RIGHT, CLOSE TO RIGHT, SORT OF RIGHT, SOMEWHAT RIGHT THAT MY LIFE COULD BE CHANGED FINANCIALLY SPEAKING..3 AS A COACH, AND I LOVE COACHING, I LOVEOACHING MORE THAN I LOVE TEACHING, TO BE QUITE HONEST. >> YOU EVER MISS COACHING? >> YES, SIR. OCCASIONALLY. NOT TO MUCH ANYMORE. ITS BEN 18 YEARS IVE KIND OF GOTTEN IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM. I DID IT FOR 13 YEARS BUT I WANT TO KNOW THAT IF I DO WELL THAT MY FAMILY WE CAN ALL PAT EACH OTHER ON THE FANNIE AND SAY, HEY, WAY TO GO. AND THEYRE A LOT OF THINGS OTHER THAN MONEY CERTAINLY THAT PEOPLE FEL GOOD ABOUT WHAT THEY DO. BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDREN, YOU HAVE GRANDCHILDREN, SPOUSES,OR YOU AVE CAREERS THAT YOU SEE ARE GOING YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE OPTIONS, BILL. AND I DONT MEAN TO BE TOO WORDY. SOMEBODY TODAY. SOMEBODY BLEW THE CANDLE OUT, TWO THREE YEARS AGO. MY FINANCIAL SITUATION TYPICALLY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY OUT THERE HAS GONE DOWN. MY PORTFOLIO IS DOWN 20, 30. I WAS LOOKING TO RETIRE IN 2008, 2010, 2011. I CANT NOW. WRONG. I WAS TOLD TO DO WHAT MOST RECOMMENDED ON TV, WHATEVER. >> WERE VERY PROUD WHEN THEY MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS TO WHAT WE DO, CERTAINLY AND WHAT WE DO IN POLICYMAKING, THAT KIND OF THING. BUT I DONT THINK I COULD HAVE 4 MILLION CONSTITUENTS AND THAT KIND OF THING. I THINK WE PROBABLY STRUGGLE WITH THAT. >> BUT YOU ARE BEING A BIG CROWD TO LEXINGTON LATER IN THE SUMMER. >> YEAH, WE ARE. WE ARE. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST YEAR AT THE REF ARENA. WE HAD TO MOVE BECAUSE THATS THE BIGGEST VENUE THAT WILL HOLD THE PEOPLE WERE GONNA HAVE I TOWN. WERE GONNA BE THERE SEPTEMBER 3rd, 4th AND 5th FOR OUR ANNUAL DIRECT YOUR ATENTION. AIRDATE: 08-01-2009 TRANSCRIPT: on and i know davids already working there for distribution over in kentucky. the distribution center is 36,000 square feet. >> douse find that people are and probably theres nobody typical but people are often wanting to cut ties with the corporate world in major companies or looking to supplement or do something on the side kind of thing. generally when we approach new a situation? and you have said that an economic situation like this brings out more people who are interested usually in ssme other option. >> absolutely. bill, i think people runnfrom business to s. outside in we have to run the business enirely like a business. out in the field people come to our business to run from businesses. theyre tired of the 50hour work weeks and tired knowing five years from now thatif anything goes right in their financial life, in their work life that nothing changes. a lot of people in our company things go right, close to right, sort of right, somewhat right that my life could be changed financially speaking..3 as a coach, and i love coaching, i loveoaching more than i love teaching, to be quite honest. >> you ever miss coaching? >> yes, sir. occasionally. not to much anymore. its ben 18 years ive kind of gotten it out of my system. i did it for 13 years but i want to know that if i do well that my family we can all pat each other on the fannie and say, hey, way to go. and theyre a lot of things other than money certainly that people fel good about what they do. but let me tell you something, when you have children, you have grandchildren, spouses,or you ave careers that you see are going you take a look at the options, bill. and i dont mean to be too wordy. somebody today. somebody blew the candle out, two three years ago. my financial situation typically throughout the country out there has gone down. my portfolio is down 20, 30. i was looking to retire in 2008, 2010, 2011. i cant now. wrong. i was told to do what most recommended on tv, whatever. >> were very proud when they make contributions to what we do, certainly and what we do in policymaking, that kind of thing. but i dont think i could have 4 million constituents and that kind of thing. i think we probably struggle with that. >> but you are being a big crowd to lexington later in the summer. >> yeah, we are. we are. this will be our first year at the ref arena. we had to move because thats the biggest venue that will hold the people were gonna have i town. were gonna be there september 3rd, 4th and 5th for our annual direct your atention. several thousands of people will be in from around the united states, canada and the united kingdom. >> thank you for being here. thank you, bill. thanks. >> and the fortune hightech market is his company. been a former basketball coach and kentuckian. we are back in just a moment with aword about somof the guests coming up in this month of august on, >>> kentucky newsmakers on wkyt. back to politics, nex week were trying to arrange an interview with the united states senate. we will be working on that for you. we also have been able to plan a few guests for the month of august and get a little bit ahead, of course pending any breaking news that might cause us to interrupt the schedule. congressman ben chandler will be with us the weekend of august 15th. attorney general jack conway is scheduled for august 29th. that weekend well be talking with him, of course, about the activities in his ofice, as well as his campaign for the united states senate on the democratic sid. and governor steve brashear is scheduled for labor day wekend. well find out what his agenda is as we head into the fall and toward the general assembly coming to frankfurt at the beginning of the year. >>> that is this edition of kentucky newsmakers, and we thank you for joing us. we remind you well have the latest news tonight, and i will seeyou bright and early monday morning on 27 newsirst on wkyt.
